“Whatever is happening to Babar right now, the same thing happened to Sarfaraz a few years ago” – Rashid Latif to Baba Azam

Rashid Latif, a former Pakistan cricket captain, feels there is no turmoil in the current national squad under Babar Azam’s leadership, and that it exists primarily to distract cricketers. In a video broadcast on his personal YouTube channel, Latif stated that Babar Azam is undoubtedly the finest player in Pakistan’s cricket team at the moment, and hence his leadership position is not in risk from a talent standpoint.

Many rumors have circulated concerning a schism in the Pakistan team and also to the Babar Azam who’s the captain of PAK, but Latif refuted all of them in the video.

Latif told that “Whatever is happening to Babar right now, the same thing happened to Sarfaraz a few years ago. That was a big mistake and we raised our voices against that. It was a very bad move. We still haven’t recovered from that,”

“If you think you can do a reset after removing Babar from captaincy… you said that the players are complaining (about Babar). There’s no one who can stand in front of him right now,” Latif added.

There have also been speculations of a feud between Babar Azam and the PCB, but Latif believes the national team currently lacks viable replacements for the star batter.

“You tell me the options. How much does Shadab (Khan) play? He misses 50 percent matches due to injury. He is not an option. If Shadab is available throughout, I would’ve said myself that Babar can step down. Shaheen (Afridi) is out of injury as well. There’s only one guy who plays all the matches,” Latif concluded.
