Kapil Dev said “You will see a better cricketer and performing better”

Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are widely regarded as the two greatest batsmen of their ages. Tendulkar made his international debut in 1989 and went on to score 100 hundreds (51 in Tests and 49 in One-Day Internationals) before retiring in 2013.

Kohli, on the other hand, dominated for nearly a decade. Kohli is the highest-scoring active player with 74 ITs (27 in Tests, 46 in ODIs, and 1 in T20Is). The right-handed batter is only three ODI tons away from equaling Tendulkar’s all-time tally of 49.

While Kohli is frequently compared to Tendulkar, opinions on who is the greatest hitter of all time are mixed.

In a recent interview, India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev was asked to select between Sachin and Kohli in the age-old dispute about who was the better batsman, However, Dev provided an excellent response. He stated that, while anyone can select, the players in the new period will be better than in the past.

In an exclusive interview with Gulf News, Dev stated. “A player of that calibre, you don’t have to pick one or two. It’s a team of XI players. I might have my own likes or dislikes, but every generation is going to get better. In our time, Sunil Gavaskar was one of the finest then we saw Rahul Dravid, Sachin, Virender Sehwag and this generation Rohit, Virat and next generation will be better. You will see a better cricketer and performing better,”

Speaking about Kohli, the former India captain has rediscovered his form, recording three century in his past six One-Day Internationals.
