Hardik Pandya’s team met former captain MS Dhoni, who lives in Ranchi, ahead of India’s first T20I match against New Zealand on Friday, Dhoni paid a visit to the India dressing room on Thursday and talked with the players ahead of Friday’s opening T20 against New Zealand.
Dhoni was first seen interacting with T20 captain Hardik Pandya before providing a hint to inexperienced keeper batsman Ishan Kishan.
In a short video shared by BCCI headlined “Look who’s visiting today’s workout in Ranchi – big @msdhoni,” the ex-captain can also be seen conversing with opener Shubman Gill, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, and support personnel.
When Hardik Pandya speak on the conference, he tells the conversation he had with the former captain MS Dhoni, they didn’t talk at all about the game.
Hardik Pandya in the conference
During the conference, Hardik Pandya said “Mahi bhai is here which is good as we get to meet him. We can get out of the hotel also (to meet him). Otherwise, the way we have played in the last one month, it has just been hotel to hotel,” he said at a press conference.
“And when we meet we try to talk about life and keep cricket away. When we played together I learnt a lot from him. I have squeezed a lot out of him (knowledge)… there is not much left,” Hardik said.
After sweeping the New Zealanders in the ODI series, India will try to continue their good form in the shortest possible time, with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill closing off the first over. It will be India’s first T20 participation since a 2-1 victory over Sri Lanka earlier this month.
Gill has only played three T20Is, but he made his debut against Sri Lanka and will bat with Kishan after an outstanding performance in the ODI series. Following a 3-0 series victory in India, the 23-year-old struck a double ton and a century. Read more cricket news here at Indibet India.
