The Mumbai Indians paid INR 1.8 crore for India captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Mumbai went all out to secure the India captain. While the RCB Capitals initiated the bid, Delhi Capitals raised the paddle and increased its bid to INR 1.10 crore. Finally, Mumbai obtained the services of India’s captain.

Inaugural Edition Date

The inaugural edition of the WPL will be held in Mumbai from March 4 to 26 across two Mumbai venues, with the player auction taking place on February 13.

The five franchises were purchased for INR 4669.99 crore by the owners of the three IPL teams, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals, as well as Adani Group and Capri Global (about USD 572.78 million). This is the biggest deal in women’s cricket history. On January 25, the winning bidders were announced.
